Trusilk

Black Braided Silk Sterile Non-Absorbable Surgical Suture

Features of Trusilk

  • Natural, braided fibers of silk
  • Smooth texture for minimal tissue trauma
  • High tensile strength
  • Soft and pliable and very easy to handle
  • Smooth knot tie-down with excellent knot security

This suture is indicated for skin closure, and in surgical procedures where a combination of a non-absorbable suture and long term wound support (except where permanent retention of tensile strength is required) is required for soft tissue approximation and/or ligation. It elicits an initial inflammatory reaction in tissue which is followed by gradual encapsulation of suture by fibrous connective tissue. While this suture is not absorbed, progressive degradation of the proteinaceous silk fibres in vivo may result in gradual loss of the suture’s tensile strength over a period of time.
